The Book of Daniel gave us the exact day that Jesus Christ would be crucified which is the fourteen day of the Jewish month of Nisan. This topic details the scriptural prophecy and calculations that are absolutely amazing that point to Jesus Christ of the Bible. Jesus Christ is who He said He was which is the Messiah and the Son of God.
Additionally, the Book of Daniel gave us incredibly detailed information concerning events that will happen during a period known as the Tribulation Period.
This is one of many of the most amazing prophecy scriptural passages in the entire scriptures. In the Book of Daniel, in Chapter 9, contains a prophecy that Biblical Scholars have labeled:
Starting in verse 20 of Chapter 9, Daniel is praying and is visited by the Angel Gabriel who gives a prophecy in verse 24-27:
Daniel 9:20 - 23 | 20 While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the Lord my God for his holy hill 21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. 22 He instructed me and said to me, Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. 23 As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the word and understand the vision: |
Daniel 9:24 - 27 Standard Version |
24 Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people
and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of
sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in
everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy,
and to
anoint the most holy.
25 Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the anointed one, the prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: it shall be built again, with street and moat, even in troublous times. 26 And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined. 27 And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out upon the desolate. |
Daniel 9:24 - 27 New International version for easier reading. |
24 “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your
people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin,
to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal
up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place. 25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.” |
The prophecy, in Daniel 9:24-27, is dealing with seventy weeks that are not contemporaneous. They are included as a group of weeks where each week is defined as period of seven years, as a day is analogous to a year in the scriptures when dealing with prophecies. This style of using days to represent years is used throughout the entirety of the scriptures.
* Note: that a score is 20, so threescore is 3 X 20 = 60. Adding two weeks means
62 weeks. The Most Holy Place is Jerusalem and Anointed One is Jesus Christ. |
The following summary is explained in further detail later in this topic. This explains where the "The 69 Weeks of Daniel", and "The 70th Week of Daniel" titles come from the scriptures.
Scripture Reference | Note | Total
1 | Daniel 9:25 "seven weeks" / "seventy 'sevens'" | 7 multiplied 7 = 49 when Holy City Jerusalem was rebuilt | 7 Weeks |
2 | Daniel 9:25 "threescore and two weeks" | 3 multiple by 20 = 60 and add 2 weeks when Messiah killed. | 62 Weeks |
3 | Daniel 9:25 | An Event will happen which is the verse 26. | 69 Weeks |
4 | Daniel 9:26 "cut off" / "put to death" | The Anointed One is killed. See Isaiah 53:8
5 | Daniel 9:27 "he" is Antichrist makes covenant | Lucifer's Antichrist make a covenant for "one week" | 70th Week |
6 | Daniel 9:27 Temple Sacrifice stopped | The Antichrist stops Sacrifices in middle of the 7 years | After 3.5 years |
7 | Daniel 9:27 "Abomination causes desolation" | Abomination of Desolation: a fake god in Holy of Holies |
In between the 69 Weeks of Daniel and the 70th Week of Daniel is the period of time known as the Fullness of the Gentiles, which gets the name from the passage in Luke 21:24.
Luke 21:24 | And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. |
After the completion of the Fullness of the Gentiles, then the 70th Week of Daniel can occur with the following points:
Partial excerpt from Alexander the Great topic

Additionally, God is always using 30 Day month in all of the prophecies:
Daniel 9:24 | Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. |
Points on Verse 24:
Daniel 9:25 | Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the anointed one, the prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: it shall be built again, with street and moat, even in troublous times. |
Points on Verse 25:
Daniel 9:26 | And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined. |
Isaiah 53:8 | By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who among them considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due? |
Points on Verse 26:
Two additional topics:
Daniel 9:27 | And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out upon the desolate. |
Points on Verse 27:
Zechariah 13:8 | In the whole land, declares the LORD, two thirds shall be cut off and perish, and one third shall be left alive. |
Mathew 24:15-18 | 15 "Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. 17 "Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house. 18 "Whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. |

To determine when the "69 Weeks of Years" per the prophecy means determining the start date the Temple that was to be rebuilt after the destruction from Nebuchadnezzar. Of the sources to be used for finding the date, the first must be the Scriptures, and then archeological and historical sources.
The key verses in the Scriptures are from:
Haggai 2:18-19 | 18 Do consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month; from the day when the temple of the Lord was founded, consider: 19 Is the seed still in the barn? Even including the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree, it has not produced fruit. Yet from this day on I will bless you. |
Nehemiah 2:1-6 | 1 In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before, 2 so the king asked me, Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart. I was very much afraid, 3 but I said to the king, May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire? 4 The king said to me, What is it you want? |
Ezra 7:12-13 | 12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect and so forth. 13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and their priests and the Levites, in my realm, that are minded of their own free will to go to Jerusalem, go with thee. |
Ezra 7:19-23 | 19 And the vessels that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem. 20 And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king s treasure-house. 21 And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers that are beyond the River, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done with all diligence, 22 unto a hundred talents of silver, and to a hundred measures of wheat, and to a hundred baths of wine, and to a hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much. 23 Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons? |
Archeological and historical sources, when paired with the scriptural text, yield the following:
The WIKIpedia, Artaxerxes I site in the section "Portrayal in the Book of Ezra and Nehemiah" does a very good job in explaining some of the dating, confusion and assumptions. One part of the confusion is whether or not Ezra and Nehemiah are contemporaries, which is a reasonable question. This author is leaning on the side that the Scriptures always use patterns and double references to confirm truths.
Therefore, getting the starting date of the 14th of March of the year 445 BC for the building of the Jerusalem Temple can be established with these additional summary points:
Haggai 2:18-19 | 18 Do consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month; from the day when the temple of the Lord was founded, consider: 19 Is the seed still in the barn? Even including the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree, it has not produced fruit. Yet from this day on I will bless you. |

Coming Prince: "Now both the "Servitude" and the "Captivity," ended with the decree of Cyrus in B.C. 536, permitting the return of the exiles. But as the language of Daniel 9:2 so plainly states, it was the seventy years of "The Desolations" that were the basis of the prophecy of the seventy weeks. And the epoch of that seventy years was the day on which Jerusalem was invested the tenth Tebeth in the ninth year of Zedekiah a day that has ever since been observed as a fast by the Jews in every land. (2 Kings 25:1.) Daniel and Revelation definitely indicate that the prophetic year is one of 360 days. Such moreover was the sacred year of the Jewish calendar; and, as is well known, such was the ancient year of Eastern nations. Now seventy years of 360 days contains exactly 25, 200 days; and as the Jewish New Year's Day depended on the equinoctial moon, we can assign the 13th December as "the Julian date" of tenth Tebeth 589. And 25, 200 days measured from that date ended on the 17th December 520, which was the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month in the second year of Darius of Persia -the very day on which the foundation of the second Temple was laid. (Haggai 2:18, 19.) Here is something to set both critics and Christians thinking. A decree of a Persian king was deemed to be divine, and any attempt to thwart it was usually met by prompt and drastic punishment; and yet the decree directing the rebuilding of the Temple, issued by King Cyrus in the zenith of his power, was thwarted for seventeen years by petty local governors. How was this? The explanation is that until the very last day of the seventy years of "the Desolations" had expired, God would not permit one stone to be laid upon another on Mount Moriah." more great information continued on this page in the book |

Coming Prince: Now it is an undisputed fact that Jerusalem was rebuilt by Nehemiah, under an edict issued by Arta-xerxes (Longimanus), in the twentieth year of his reign. Therefore, notwithstanding the doubts which controversy throws upon everything, the conclusion is obvious and irresistible that this was the epoch of the prophetic period. But the month date was Nisan, and the sacred year of the Jews began with the phases of the Paschal moon. I appealed, therefore, to the Astronomer Royal, the late Sir George Airy, to calculate for me the moon's place for March in the year in question, and I thus ascertained the date required March 14th, B.C. 445. |
To perform the calculation, the chart below is used with the following points:
When looking at the following chart calculation:
Therefore, the date of the execution of the Messiah was absolutely precise as God was in control. The following chart gives the days calculation based on the years with the starting date of Mach 14th, 445 BC, where the next goal is to identify the date in history that the Messiah would be killed.
Date | Event / Notes | Calculation | Duration | Days Calc | Days | Milestone Event |
March 14th 445 BC | Command to Rebuild the Temple | 1 Week = 7 X 7 | 49 Years | 49 X 360 Days | 17,640 | Temple is rebuilt, refurbished and operational. Old Testament Cannon is completed |
62 Weeks of Years | 62 * 7 | 434 Year | 434 X 360 Days | 156,240 | Day Messiah executed
Total Days: | 173,880 |
There are some who may state that this is a very difficult area to make an exact estimate day because of the accuracy of calendars in the Ancient World. Regardless of the human based accuracy, using the calculations below (also other Christian's estimates), comes to an approximation which the precision that points to Jesus Christ leaves no ambiguity to the perfection of God's accuracy.
To pinpoint a date, we have to use 365.25 days in a year for calculating the prophetic date after the start date. As noted, the Long Day of Joshua and 2 King 20 Event changed the 360-day calendar year to 365.25 days in a year. We are doing calculations after the year change.
Some other notes:
Date | Leap Year? | Gregorian Calendar | Using 365.25-day years gives same total
Saturday, February 29, 2020 | Yes
1 | Sunday, February 28, 2021 | 365 | 365.25

3 | Tuesday, February 28, 2023 | 365 | 365.25
4 | Thursday, February 29, 2024 | Yes | 366 | 365.25 |
Total Days: | 1461 | 1461 |
Days | 365.25 Day Years | Number of Years | Days Calc | Days | How Much Time? |
173880 | 173880 / 365.25 | 476.06 | .06 * 365.25 | 21.855 -> 22 | 476 Years and 22 days |
173880 | 173880 / 365 | 476.38 | .06 * 365 | 21.84 -> 22 | 476 Years and 22 days |
Adding 476 Years and 22 Days to the starting date of March 14th, 445 BC gives us April 5th, 32 AD as the day that the Messiah would be "cut off" which meant to be executed. Isaiah 52:13 through Isaiah 53:12 is called the Holy of Holies of the Old Testament that points to Jesus Christ's life with the climax on the Cross. Additionally, Psalm 22 is often called the Crucifixion Psalm that points to the experience on the Cross.

The following an excerpt from Day Jesus Christ was
Crucified: Using the amazing prophecy given to Daniel, by the Angel Gabriel in the 69 Weeks of Daniel Chapter 9 scriptures, the calculations give us a date of 5-Apr-32 AD, when using the start date of 14-Mar-445 BC. Different Biblical Scholars have disagreements on the year, while all agree on the number of 173,880 days that transpired from start date to date revealed is correct, the following points are debated:
To aid in verifying the vicinity of the year, we can look at "The Annals, Book XV", where Tacitus states that "Cristus, from whom the name ['Christian'] had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of the procurators, Potntius Pilatus..." Pilate was the Roman procurator of Judea from 26 AD through 36 AD. From the scriptures, we know:
Working from all these points of information, it can be determined that Jesus Christ was crucified in his early 30s. Note that Jesus' birth was before the 1 AD and there is no 0 AD. Some Biblical scholars point to Jesus' birth to be in the year of 4 BC. |

Unquestionably, we are not in the 70th Week of Daniel because there is no peace in Israel. According to Daniel 9:27, the Antichrist will make a covenant that is broken at the Abomination of Desolation event, at the half way point of the seven years. The first 3.5 years before the Abomination of Desolation event are a time that Israel will be living in peace with "land of unwalled villages" according to the prophecy concerning the Antichrist in Ezekiel 38:10-13.
Daniel 9:27 Oblation is Temple sacrifices |
And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out upon the desolate. |
Ezekiel 38:10-13 | 10 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: It shall come to pass in that day, that things shall come into thy mind, and thou shalt devise an evil device: 11 and thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates; 12 to take the spoil and to take the prey; to turn thy hand against the waste places that are now inhabited, and against the people that are gathered out of the nations, that have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the middle of the earth. 13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take the spoil? hast thou assembled thy company to take the prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take great spoil? |
Today, Israel has walls and barriers that separate and protect themselves from militant Muslim groups. On a routine basis, different Muslim terrorist groups are firing rockets at Israel and attempting all kinds of disruptive and murderous actives.
A second reason to know we aren't in the 70th Week of Daniel, is there no Jewish Rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem. The Temple needs to be rebuilt in order for the Abomination of Desolation event to occur. As of 2021, there is no announcements of the process to build a new Temple.
Building a new Temple will most likely take at least a one-year period, with exacts specifications taken from scriptures, which with require the securing of a land location that will certainly be publicized in the Media around the world. There is the possibility that the Temple could be constructed during the 70th Week period, but this author believes the peace treaty of Daniel 9:27 will coincide with Israel enjoying the full use of the Temple without fear of terrorism for the first 3.5 years of the 70th Week.
The following is an excerpt from the
Tribulation Period
topic: Israel's military will be neutralized by the Antichrist before the Abomination of Desolation event.
Using rounded numbers of the population of Israel as of 2021, the following chart lists the theatrical numbers of those killed by the Antichrist and those who survive either in Jordan (Petra) or somewhere else on the Earth. The 144,000 Jewish Evangelists are marked by God so they cannot be harmed.
Using the estimated number of Jewish people, with 2021 numbers, those surviving the Tribulation Period is an approximate 2,462,640 Jewish people. These people will be protected and hidden from the Antichrist according to Daniel 11:41 (verse listed above). This will take a fairly large area of the mountains which the theoretical location of Petra could hold the remnant of Israel. The location of Petra is described as having:
|
Daniel 12:11-12 | 11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days. |
When Daniel was writing the verses, there is the remarkable acknowledgment that Daniel did not know what the verses meant as indicated in Daniel 12:8.
In the verse of Daniel 12:4, the "words" (which is meant to be the Word of God ~ scriptures) is dealing with the prophecy that is about to be given which is:
Daniel 12:4 | But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase. |
Daniel 12:8 | Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, My lord, what shall be the end of these things? |
Interestingly, in the verse 5 and 6 of Daniel 12 (shown below), then Daniel sees two other men standing across from one another on a river. Each was on the opposing riverbank. One of the two of the two men asks the question "How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?" Note that it is important to notice that these two men were not identified to be Daniel and not the Angel Gabriel.
Speculation and a theory by this author is:
The physical floating in the air position of one of the two men, suddenly who was above the waters of the river, is hard to speculate. Some people might state the possibility that the man "above the waters" is Jesus Christ in a Theophany appearance, as the man knows the future. This author is not stating the floating man is Jesus Christ, but imagine it might be a thought considered and there are no Biblical Commentaries, that this author could find, to give a good enough theory on the floating man.
Daniel 12:5-6 | 4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase. 5 Then I, Daniel, looked; and there stood two others, one on this riverbank and the other on that riverbank. 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be? |
When dealing with Daniel 11-12, we are given a starting point of the Abomination of Desolation Event, where we know the Tribulation Period ends after 1260 days, which is 3.5 years, but the two verses state additional days after the Tribulation Period ends. The question that no Biblical Commentaries have a good answer is what is occurring:
Daniel 12:11-12 | 11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days. |
A few Biblical Scholars, including this Author, believe the Judgment Seat of Jesus Christ and the Wedding Supper of the Lamb occurs immediately after the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which is the ending of the Tribulation Period. The extra 30 Days and 70 days, may contain the period of time for all these events:
(Note: some readers may disagree with the placement of the Judgment Seat of Jesus Christ, where the theory is explanted in the Judgment Seat of Jesus Christ topic. Also, note that God is not confined to time constraints and God exists outside of His entire Creation. The Kingdom of God, is not restricted to time, God exists outside of time and there are multiple Time Domains that God has created.)
As detailed in this 70th week in Daniel topic, the week is a period of seven years, where the period is divided into two halves of 3.5 years, which is 1260 days and 1260 days. God, in all of the prophecies in the Bible, uses 30 day months of 360 day years. The starting point of the Tribulation Period is the Abomination of Desolation Event.
