The Lamb's Book of Life is a list of people, who our God has kept before the Creation of the World. It recorded all the people:
Ephesians 1:3-6 | 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. |
1 Corinthians 1:27–30 | 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and us sanctification and redemption, |
The Lamb's Book of Life is used in the Judgment Seat of Christ. In the scriptures it is often referred to as the Book of Life.
Can someone's name be removed from the Lamb's Book of Life? No, because God knows the beginning from the end and that would also mean it is possible to lose Salvation. If we could get our names removed from the Lamb's Book of Life, then all of us would have our names removed because we are sinful creatures as listed Romans 3:10-12, so God safe guarded and prevents this from happening. The work of our Salvation is a 100% completed work by Jesus Christ and not by our works. Our rewards in Heaven are determined by our works.
Romans 3:10-12 | 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. |
God does not make mistakes and then have to remove a name that was already written in the Book of Life. God exists outside of all Time Domains where He did not have to discover after time went by to know if someone would not be eligible or lose Salvation.
Some Theologians wrongly quote scriptures such as Exodus 32:30-34, to state that God can remove names from the Book of Life. The context of the passage is dealing with a discussion between Moses and God. Moses is frightened and lovingly worried for Israel that they will lose their Salvation so Moses is asking God to take out the punishment of loss of Salvation against himself (Moses). God is responding with the comment that He will "Whoever sins against me, I'll blot him out of my book" which is God's choice and prerogative. It doesn't state God would do it to a person who has Salvation and the proof is the Exodus people that were not killed after the golden calf incident, only the evil men who rejected the true God.
Exodus 32:2-6 | 1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him. 2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. 3 And all the people brake off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. 4 And he received it at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, and made it a molten calf: and they said, These are thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 5 And when Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To-morrow shall be a feast to Jehovah. 6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt-offerings, and brought peace-offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. |
Exodus 32:30-34 | 30 The next day Moses told the people, “You committed a great sin, and now I’ll go up to the Lord, and perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.” 31 Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Please, Lord, this people committed a great sin by making a god of gold for themselves. 32 Now, if you will, forgive their sin—but if not, blot me out of your book which you have written.” 33 The Lord told Moses, “Whoever sins against me, I’ll blot him out of my book. 34 Now, go, and lead the people where I told you, and now my angel will go before you, but on the day when I do punish, I’ll punish them for their sin.” 35 Then the Lord sent a plague on the people because they made the calf (the one Aaron made). |
It is important to look also at how God handles those who do not have Salvation in the time of the Exodus. In Numbers 16:26-33, which was also dealing with the Golden Calf incident, there were evil men under Korah, who were swallowed up by the Earth to go directly to the bad compartment of Sheol and the scriptures in Exodus and Numbers inform us that these men where never accepting of God, thus never had Salvation.
Numbers 16:26-33 | 26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying,
Depart, I pray you, from the
tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye
be consumed in all their sins. 27 So they
gat them up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every
side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their
tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little ones. 28
And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that Jehovah
hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own
mind. 29 If these men die the common death
of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then
Jehovah hath not sent me. 30 But if Jehovah
make a new thing, and the ground open its mouth, and swallow them up,
with all that appertain unto them, and they go down alive into Sheol;
then ye shall understand that these men have despised Jehovah. 31 And it came to pass, as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them; 32 and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. 33 So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into Sheol: and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly. |
The evil group was led by Korah, Dathan and Abiram. Those who separated themselves from them, were choosing God so they lived. The group of Korah, Dathan and Abiram's with those who stayed with them (250 men), showed that they never had chosen God and rejected knowing God again, so they never were in the Lamb's Book of Life.
God exists outside of our Time Domain and God knows the end from the beginning. This means that God already had everyone in the entire history of the Earth, who would have Salvation, already written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Exodus 32:33 was information for Moses to understand that God would have known if a person would have Salvation before they were born and the "sin against God" is also a sin of not accepting God, would mean their name would never be in the Lamb's Book of Life. This is what the group of evil people did.
Note that there are other Books in the Scriptures:
|
Because of the Idolatry event, God did punish and have many die from a plague, but God did not require the lives of all the people of Israel. We can never state that just because someone was part of the Exodus Group that they chose to have Faith that Saves for God. The evil group is proof.
We know from the scriptures, that worshipping a false god is one of the four greatest sins that a person can commit but it does not take away a person's Salvation. There was punishment, a plague and then God still directed the people to go the Promise Land, Exodus 33:1-3, but God informed Moses that He would not be traveling with them, only an Angel. God not traveling with them, must have caused a profound remorsefulness as indicated in Exodus 33:4. Thankfully, God did travel with them later as indicated in Exodus 33:14.
Note that Aaron was the designer and builder of the golden calf where we know that Aaron eventually becomes the first Chief Priest of Israel for God. If anyone would have received one of the strongest and punitive punishments, then Aaron would have been one of them to receive a severe consequence, where Aaron did not. Aaron, despite making the golden calf, in his heart still had Faith that Saves for God, as evidenced by Aaron not standing with the evil group and Aaron's future actions.
Numbers 16:24 Numbers 16:31-32 Numbers 26:10

This is the incident of the evil group of Korah, Dathan and Abiram
who were behind the rebellion of the golden calf.
The whole group of Evil Men went directly to Sheol. 24 "Speak to the congregation, saying, 'Get back from around the dwellings of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.'" 31 As he finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split open; 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men who belonged to Korah with their possessions. 33 So they and all that belonged to them went down alive to Sheol; and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly. 10 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up along with Korah, when that company died, when the fire devoured 250 men, so they became warning. |
Exodus 33:1-3 | 1 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ 2 I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 3 Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.” 4 When the people heard these distressing words, they began to mourn and no one put on any ornaments |
Revelation 20:12 | And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. |
We always need to know that if it is possible to lose Salvation then it goes against many other scriptures that point to eternal security.
For those Christians, who incorrectly believe that a person's name can be blotted out of the Lamb's Book of Life, can additionally look at Judas Iscariot's life. Judas Iscariot walked with Jesus Christ and if the scriptures, with the expositional consistency, did not state Judas Iscariot had his name blotted out, and God could have used Judas Iscariot as an example if it were possible. God did not blot out Judas Iscariot's name:
Excerpts from the Judas
Iscariot topic: There are two main prophecies concerning Judas Iscariot in the Old Testament in Psalm 41:9 and Zachariah 11. Notice in Psalm 41:9, the dual prophecy of the writer of the Psalm speaking about his own predicament that Jesus Christ would also experience. In Zachariah, there is the prophecy, amongst other details, that the betrayal would be for thirty shekels of silver.
