Jesus Christ said He was leaving the Earth

After the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Disciples were visited by Jesus Christ after the resurrection on several occasions.  Jesus Christ said many things dealing with the Holy Spirit coming after Jesus Christ would leave the Earth.

All Christians know that Jesus Christ will be returning, but do not necessarily know there are two Second Comings, and do not necessarily recognize the primary reason, of two reasons, why Jesus Christ had to leave the Earth.

Jesus Christ would be gone for a period of time until a specific event occurs which is one of the Purposes of the Tribulation Period that is discussed later in this topic.

John 14:25-28 25 These things have I spoken unto you, while yet abiding with you. 26 But the Comforter, even the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. 28 Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I.
John 15:25-27 25 But this cometh to pass, that the word may be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. 26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall bear witness of me: 27 and ye also bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Could Jesus Christ have stayed after the Resurrection?

Jesus Christ could not have stayed in His glorified human-body after the resurrection, and was forced to leave because of Israel's rejection of their Messiah Jesus Christ.

There was many people of Israel, who accepted Jesus Christ as the Messiah unto Salvation, and it is because of these people of Israel that the Church Age began.  Also, the Disciples, who became Apostles, were part of Israel.  God still has many wonderful blessings and prophecies concerning Israel in the future where the whole Earth will be blessed.

God knew that Jesus Christ would be rejected by Israel, and the world, on the first mission as described in Isaiah 53 and many other scriptural passages in the Old Testament.  There are prophecies in the Old Testament that require Israel to recognize their Messiah so that Jesus Christ can rule fully on Earth which will happen.

Steven, during his appearance before the Sanhedrin, told them before being murdered by them, that Israel has a pattern of rejecting God's appointments on their first offering, but always recognize God's appointments on the second offering.  This is often the same for all of us.  God always starts the Salvation Process with us.

Jesus Christ is prophesized to rule on King David's Throne on Earth during the Millennial Kingdom, where this can't happen until several prerequisites occur.  Until the prerequisites occur, then Jesus Christ

  1. Will return to the place He came from, which is Heaven, until Israel acknowledges their offense as read in Hosea 5:15.
  2. The enemies of God will be made Jesus Christ's footstool as read in Psalms 110:1.
  3. Lucifer will have his head bruised as read in Genesis 3:15
Hosea 5:15 "I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early."

Notice to return meant He had to leave that place.  Ties to Matthew 22:39

Matthew 23:37-39 37  O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! 38 See, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Psalms 110:1 Jehovah saith unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, Until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Genesis 3:15 and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Note: the traditional belief of this passage is Lucifer is causing Jesus Christ to have a bruise on His heel.  The correct interpretation is Jesus Christ is causing a death blow to Lucifer which merely only causes a bruise to Jesus Christ, which is inconsequential.

In John 16:5-7, Jesus Christ told his Disciples:

  1. "It is expedient for you that I go away"
  2. "if I go not away"
  3. "the Comforter (Holy Spirit) will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you"
John 16:5-7 5 But now I go unto him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? 6 But because I have spoken these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter (Holy Spirit) will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you.

Purpose of the Tribulation Period

The following is an excerpt from the Tribulation Purpose Topic:

With all of the history of Israel as a people and as a nation, the world cannot explain how Israel exists with all of the multiple genocide attempts.  In fact, if Israel as a people had ceased to exist, then the Bible can be dismissed as a myth.  The current regathering was predicted in many, many scriptures such as Isaiah 11:11-12 and Ezekiel 37:11-25.  Before the Great Tribulation, the city of Jerusalem will be possessed by others until the time, known as the Fullness of the Gentiles and the Dispensation of Grace / Time of Gentiles, will be fulfilled.

Isaiah 11:11-12 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, that shall remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he will set up an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
Luke 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

The next questions to consider are:

  • Why is there a Nation of Israel and is God through with Israel?
  • Does Israel as a people have a future mission?

The answer to the first questions, is God still has unconditional promises to Israel that still will be fulfilled in the Millennial Kingdom.  The second question's answer is Israel will recognize their Messiah Jesus Christ and during the last 3.5 years of the Tribulation Period, God will use 144,000 Jewish men to evangelize the world along with many other methods that include, but not limited to, the Holy Spirit, Angels and the Two Witnesses.  Those people of Israel that survives the Tribulation Period and all the Gentiles that survive that accept Jesus Christ as their Savior will repopulate the Earth during the Millennial Kingdom.

Millennial Kingdom Fulfillment

The following is an excerpt from the Millennial Kingdom Topic:

At the time of Abraham, God made an unconditional promise to Abraham that Abraham's descendants would inherit land and would possess it forever.  Israel, during the time of the Old Testament had blessing and protection under obedience, where the new covenant of Jesus Christ gave everyone, including Israel, a new greater law.

The promise that God made to Abraham did not change and they are still in effect concerning the nation of Israel, where in the future Millennial Kingdom, Israel will be the priests of God and the world will look to and go to Jerusalem to honor, serve and worship God.

Genesis 22:16-18 16 and said, "By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 "In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice."
Deuteronomy 1:7-8
(the full territory of modern-day Israel and much, much more.
7 'Turn and set your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites, and to all their neighbors in the Arabah, in the hill country and in the lowland and in the Negev and by the seacoast, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates. 8 'See, I have placed the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to them and their descendants after them.'
